The complex sits against Cangshan Mountain like someone planned the most Instagrammable backdrop in history. Pro Tip: The train ride is 2 hours. Download something to watch, or just stare out the window like a contemplative poet.

Meals: Breakfast Overnight: Dali Welcome to Erhai Lake, Yunnan's second-largest freshwater lake. Today's mission: explore its shoreline without falling into the trap of taking 600 photos. It's touristy, but it's also genuinely charming, so we'll allow it. Then: Panxi S-Bend, where Erhai Lake curves like it's showing off. Bring your camera. Seriously. Next: Xizhou Ancient Town, home of the Bai people and their iconic courtyard houses. You'll visit a tie-dye workshop and learn the traditional Bai technique of zharan (扎染). You can make your own scarf, which is either a meaningful cultural experience or a clever way to get tourists to make their own souvenirs. It's both. Meals: Breakfast Overnight: Kunming Visit Songzanlin Monastery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan. Built in 1679, it's known as the "Little Potala Palace." Gold roofs, hundreds of monks, morning chants - if you've ever wondered what Tibetan Buddhism looks, sounds, and feels like, this is your answer. Then: Napa Lake, a seasonal wetland that turns into a grassland in dry months. Yaks, wildflowers, and the kind of wide-open space that makes you forget your phone exists (until you remember you need photos). By evening, you're back on the train to Kunming. High-speed rail is one of China's superpowers - use it.

Meals: Breakfast Overnight: Xishuangbanna Morning train to Xishuangbanna (西双版纳) - Yunnan's tropical south, where the climate, culture, and vibe are completely different.
