This morning, you will visit the Shanghai Museum, one of China's four great museums, to admire a variety of exquisite traditional treasures and gain a deeper understanding of China's long and profound history and culture. Known as the "half of the cultural relics world," the Shanghai Museum features a round top and square base, reflecting the ancient Chinese concept of "a round heaven and a square earth." It houses over 1.02 million cultural relics, covering the most precious artworks from China's 5,000-year civilization. Among the museum's greatest treasures are: the Da Ke Ding, a bronze vessel about 3,000 years old; the Jin Hou Su Bell, an ancient musical instrument from the Western Zhou Dynasty; the Shang Yang Fang Sheng, a relic of Shang Yang's reforms; and the Zi Zhong Jiang Pan, a Spring and Autumn period bronze carved with over 30 aquatic animals. Afterward, head to the Yu Garden, known as the "finest garden in Southeast China," to enjoy the scenery of a classical Jiangnan garden. The Yu Garden was first built in the 38th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1559 AD), with a history of more than 460 years. It was originally a private garden built by Pan Yunduan, the Ming Dynasty's Sichuan provincial administration commissioner, for his father to enjoy a peaceful retirement. Strolling along the winding paths of the Yu Garden, you can admire China's exquisite garden layout, beautiful classical architecture, and superb brick carvings, stone carvings, clay sculptures, and wood carvings. The iconic sights—the Dragon Wall, the Nine-Turn Bridge, and the Mid-Lake Pavilion—are especially worth savoring. After the tour, walk to Yuyuan Bazaar near the Yu Garden to taste the most authentic Shanghai cuisine, such as xiaolongbao, braised pork, and eight-treasure duck. After lunch, you can walk along Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, known as "China's No. 1 Commercial Street," to the Bund, a total distance of about 2 kilometers. Then arrive at the Bund, hailed as the "Paris of the East," and feel the prosperity of magical Shanghai. Located on the west bank of the Huangpu River, the Bund is one of Shanghai's landmark attractions and is known as the "Exhibition of World Architecture." It brings together 52 buildings of different foreign styles, such as the Shanghai Club, the Peace Hotel, and the HSBC Building. Stepping into it feels like entering the golden age of the former Oriental Wall Street. Standing by the river, you can also gaze at landmark buildings such as the Shanghai Tower, the world's third-tallest building; the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Asia's tallest tower; the Jin Mao Tower, Shanghai's fourth-tallest building; and the Shanghai World Financial Center, Shanghai's second-tallest building. Afterward, you will take a public ferry at Jinling East Road to cross the Huangpu River and arrive at the Lujiazui business district in Pudong, Shanghai. Walk to the Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in Shanghai and even China. Here, you will take the world's fastest sightseeing elevator (73.8 km/h) directly to the "Top of Shanghai Observatory" on the 118th floor, 546 meters above the ground, and enjoy a 360-degree unobstructed view of Shanghai's magnificent skyline and panoramic city views, overlooking famous buildings in all directions. After breakfast, you will drive about 48 kilometers to visit [Zhujiajiao Water Town], known as the "Venice of the East." With a history of more than 1,700 years, it still retains many ancient houses, temples, stone bridges, and other historical relics, along with many newly added distinctive art galleries. It was once rated as "one of the 50 places in China most worth visiting for foreigners." Following the winding alleys of the water town, you can admire well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty buildings with simple, ancient styles, cross uniquely designed stone bridges, and feel the beauty of "small bridges, flowing water, and households." Among them, Fangsheng Bridge is the most famous. It is the largest stone arch bridge in Shanghai, decorated with intricate carvings and decorative patterns. Then, you can also visit some historical sites to learn about local history and culture, from ancient temples such as Yuanjin Temple and the City God Temple to one of Shanghai's oldest post offices, the Qing Dynasty Post Office, from the picturesque Kezhi Garden and Hexin Garden to the richly collected Helong Art Museum. All of them showcase the humanistic and architectural beauty of Zhujiajiao Water Town.
